About Retirement Coaching You may be asking yourself ‘why do I need a retirement coach?’ The short answer is - you don’t - if you are confident that you are well prepared for the major life transition from working to retirement. However, consider the following. You have probably spent a large portion of your adult life in a ‘working’ environment. The average person spends 50 hours per week working and commuting. That’s about 2,400 hours per year. When you retire, that environment will be gone and your life will be radically different. Your job provided you with much more than a pay cheque and an occupation. It also provided you with structure and time management, a sense of purpose and identity, social interaction and psychological fulfillment. How will you replace these crucial elements in your life? You could be ‘retired’ 20 – 30 years. That’s a LONG time to ‘wing it’. If you aren’t prepared, your life could become difficult and empty. Retirement is one of the biggest transitions we go through in our lives. It affects our whole life including our relationships, our family, our social connections, our sense of purpose and who we are. Yet most of us will spend more time planning our annual vacations then we do planning our lives after retirement. Financial planning is important but it is also critical to develop a life plan in order to successfully make this significant life transition. Together we will look at the non-financial aspects of your retirement. As a retirement coach, I can help you create a plan for a life after retirement based on what you find meaningful and rewarding. You will discover what a meaningful life means to you and how you want your life to be. We will explore your values and life purpose, develop a vision based on your dreams and yearnings and create a plan for your life after retirement! Now ask yourself ‘How can I make the transition to retirement and create the best years of my life?’ The answer is with the help of a Retirement Coach. |
